Star-Studded Show

Intergalactic MayDay

Buena Vista, Colorado. This photograph was taken the first night of camping at the Buena Vista, Colorado KOA. Perched upon this hilltop, I got out of my Element to stand at the base of the Continental Divide and bathe in the crisp, cool starlight.

I also set up my tripod to capture this “happy camping” moment. It was only after the fact that I realized this shot included what appears to be a falling satellite.

They say one should make a wish upon seeing a shooting star. Ya know, it’s funny. When most of us see a shooting satellite, many of us make the same wish. We wish we were seeing a shooting star.

In the case, my wish was that I had seen what was happening before me as I looked at my camera. What would your wish be?

What great luck. Very nice shot, Josh. I remember when I was a teenager, with a group of my peers, watching in awe when a rocket booster from the launch of a satelite from the U.S. came down aross the Atlantic and went right on by over our heads. It was the most magnificent thing you ever saw! And not one camera in the whole friggin group! lol. Anyway, take care - Anna

Anna > What an incredible memory?!! I can not begin to imagine how spectacular that must have been. I’ll be the booster left a stardust trail in its wake!

TYPO ALERT!

Anna > Whoops. “I’ll be the booster left a stardust trail in its wake!” was supposed to read “I’ll bet the booster left a stardust trail in its wake!”
