A Sign of Character
During my recent “trucker” road trip, I saw a great billboard. Unfortunately, I could not tell what they were selling, otherwise I would properly attribute the following copy:
Learn To Lead. Lead To Learn.
Provocative, indeed.
Living Life In Luxury
Cheyenne, Wyoming. The Luxury Diner - one of my favorite pit stops in America.
The Luxury Diner was a serendipitous discovery on a road trip my Dad and I took in the Fall of 97. We were driving up from Denver through Wyoming to Billings, Montana. From there we headed West to Livingston, [...]
Where’s The Beef?
Alongside a Wyoming highway… Sign reads, “Wyoming - Beef Country.” Click photo for large version.
“Where’s The Beef?” Good question. Where have all the cattle gone?
Riding The Fence

From Arizona, I headed back up through Colorado to Wyoming.
Let’s kick-off the Wyoming series with this shot from the American wild west!
A Sign of Character
The Navajo Nation of Kayenta, Arizona. Click photo for large version.
This sign is one of great character. It is fashioned out of old tires, pipes and fence poles. Not only does it have a great deal of character, it is also a testament to innovation.
America - Have A Safe Birthday
A quick aside from Montana. Today, I had the pleasure of driving into Montana from Northern Idaho on Highway 2. It is a spectacular drive and I highly recommend it.
However, the stunning beauty of this country road is neither the most remarkable nor the most memorable thing about this drive. It [...]
Tracking Big Feet

Dinosaur Tracks Left 1/2 Mile
Let the pilgrimage to track down these mighty beasts begin!
Ran Out of Gas
Rural Arizona.
I’m happy to report that it was this Standard Oil Products station that ran out of gas here, not me. The Element is still kicking. Today’s sky-high gas prices add to this scene’s sense of lost opportunity.
Burma Shave Brought To Us By Aliens
Cooper, Colorado. Earl of Earl’s World asked an interesting question in response to UFO Highway to Fresh Produce. Earl asked, “Did aliens create Burma Shave?”
At first, it seemed unlikely even though these signs are reminiscent of the legendary roadside signs that built Burma Shave Brand shaving cream. Then, I noticed something odd [...]
UFO Watchtower
Cooper, Colorado.
So, this is what Hwy 17’s roadside signs of alien life were trying to tell me. I’d like to “Come On In,” but I’m running behind schedule at the moment. Aliens, I offer you three words of my own instead, “Come Get Me.”
