Icehouse

Casper, Wyoming.  From Cheyenne & Chugwater, I headed North on I-25. The plan was to shoot more material in Northern Wyoming before heading into Montana.
At least, that was the plan until an unexpected snow storm hit. Luckily, my 4-wheel drive Element was able to successfully play an impromptu game of slip n’ slide [...]

The Road Home

Lora recently took a time out from her blog, The Power of Trinity, to request a list of the states I’d be traveling through on the way home from the photographic “shooting spree” through the West.
I was glad to oblige, but the trip home went by like a blur. The night after Lora’s comment [...]

The West Is Off My Chest (for now)

A quick update from the road in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
As of about 5 minutes ago, it was official. The Great Western road trip is a wrap with material photographed in every Western state.
Now, what to do? I feel like Forest Gump (as, I often do) when he stopped running and just went home.
Guess [...]

We’ve Got Company

The peaceful, quiet road is about to end. I suppose every road eventually does.
AAA estimates that over 41 million people will be hitting the road this 4th of July weekend. That’s this coming weekend!
Uuugh. For me, its like 41 million people are coming to visit. Any suggestions on how to [...]

Pit Stop

Seattle, Washington. The time has come for a much-needed Pit Stop.
Today, the Element was parked and locked down in an undisclosed location within the greater Seattle metro area. I will be hold-up in my photography studio’s digital darkroom to work on preparing the Send Me A Sign book for press.
This “Pit Stop” will [...]

Dustbowl O’ Lucky Charms 2007!

Ardmore, Oklahoma. In Atlanta, we name our snow storms. It only takes about an inch of snow and the media has already named it something like, SnowJam 2007.
This was my first dust storm. By dust storm standards, it was probably pretty mild but I’m naming it anyway - The Dustbowl O’ Lucky [...]

Accident Witness (sort of)

Ardmore, Oklahoma.  My campground site is right next to I-35.  At some point while sitting here, a large truck (appears to be a semi) tipped over and ran off the interstate - right in front of me!  Turns out that was the destination of the some of the EMS vehicles I mentioned earlier.
The fact that [...]

Stop and Smell The Dust!

Ardmore, Oklahoma. Much of Oklahoma is being pummel by high winds and dust. So, I am here in my Element… hunkered down to wait the winds out.
It is a little disappointing to not be shooting today, but it was so clearly the “right call.” This is an amazing experience. The winds [...]

Pit Stop - Good As New

Decatur, Georgia. Michael Gibson, car-stylist extraordinaire, put his professional touch on the Element. The car is good-as-new, inside & out.

The engine has been over 85,000 miles… through deserts, snow storms, thunderstorms and the everglades. She loooks brand-spanking new. Thanks, Mike.
Ready to roll!

Pit Stop - Windshield Replaced

Decatur, Georgia. After 85,000 miles, the windshield has been taken out by slowly growing foot-long crack. No problem for the pit crew.  Micheal and Cameron of Action Glass got to work & had the windshield replaced in no time.
