You Got Mailbox - Recycle Your Cans

Rural Texas. It has been a while since a mailbox stood out of the blur whizzing by the window.  Good to see people recycling their cans.

Once again, a dog snuck up on me while shooting. This little fella proved to be friendly and inquisitive. A refreshing change of pace since surviving… Cujo Attacks!

You Got Mailbox - Tractor Love

Toomsuba, MS. Hopped out of the car to shoot this baby. I fell in tractor Love! Luckily, I noticed a dog headed for me from the front yard and ran for the car.

Cujo attacked! Guess he doesn’t feel the love.

Got Milk?

Flashback! from Duluth, Minnesota - Winter 2005. The winner of the 2005 John Beargrease Dog Sled Marathon, Mark Black.
Marathon Winner, Mark Black

I’d like to specially thank my good friend, Gail Hecko, for this post’s title. Thanks, Gail. Loved it! I hope your next Great Escape is a blast!

Beargrease It Up!

Flashback! … from Winter 2005. Minneapolis, Minnesota. A couple of great friends of mine, Lee Connerton and Fred Nordeen, made a timely suggestion to me over lunch.
Why don’t you swing by Duluth and catch the John Beargrease Dog Sled Marathon while you’re shooting in Northern Minnesota, they rhetorically asked. Needless to [...]

Back In The Saddle - 3

Lake Tahoe, California. With the dog teams pumped up, we took off!

Christie mushes the team onward. “Smokey, Gee. Gee, Smokey!”
“Gee” is the command to go right. Smokey was one of the lead dogs.

I am [...]

Back In The Saddle - 2

Lake Tahoe, California. Here are a few more shots from last week’s dog sled run. Our Mushers were twin sisters (Christie & Anna) who hail from the Lake Superior region of the great state of Wisconsin. They were both very nice and extremely knowledgeable. Christie and Anna seem to both be Master Mushers, if there [...]

Back In The Saddle

Lake Tahoe, CA. While not yet recuperated from being ill, a spur-of-the-moment meeting required I hop a plane to Reno at the end of last week. I am pleased to report that my cooties moved out over the weekend, leaving their homestead on Joshua Lane behind for hopefully some more enjoyable neighbors.
Having been sick-as-a-dog, it [...]

The Grave of Bess

Bluffton, South Carolina. Palmetto Bluff. This is a pet cemetery, after all. Couldn’t pass up the spooky shot.

Bess A Good Old Dog

Bluffton, South Carolina. Palmetto Bluff. Within the village, there exists an old pet cemetery which dates back to the early 1900s. This is the grave Bess, a pointer and a good old dog who died in 1912. The water vessel in the distance is Palmetto Bluff’s beautiful boat, Grace, which was [...]

Dog Attacks!

Arkansas. Today, I was minding my own business enjoying a cool, brisk Autumn day in the Arkansas countryside… then, it happened.
I had been standing on the side of the road, crouched over my tripod taking shoots for the “signs” project. After a while, I had become immersed in the shooting, trying various compositions and [...]
