Treat Yourself To The Best
Lanesville, KY. Mail Pouch chewing tobacco barn.

I, along with many others, am a great fan of barn advertising. The golden years of barn advertising within the US were 1900-1940. The Mail Pouch chewing tobacco company of West Virginia commissioned the hand-painting of barns throughout Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia from 1890 to 1992. Their primary artist, Harley Warrick, passed away in 1992. According to Harley, he hand-painted over 20,00 barns, each work of art commenced with the painting of the “e” in the word, chew. There were a few other artists who painted the Mail Pouch barns. Most of the barns have a blue border that surrounds the barn’s front side. Within the border, the artist’s initials and the date of painting can often be found. I didn’t check on this one.
Nice shot! Enjoyable blog here, thanks for the share.
